We believe in stating product limits clearly. Here are the boundaries and intentional limitations of FlowJoe.

1. Hierarchical Tree Only

FlowJoe’s structure is a tree: every node has exactly one parent.
  • You cannot draw connections between nodes in the tree, or give a node two parents. The tree is a hierarchy, not a graph.
  • Slots inside a node’s gallery are a different matter: the Canvas layout lets you place them freely on an infinite 2D board and draw relationship lines between them. Those connections live within that one gallery and cannot cross into another node. See Canvas Connections.

2. Document Previews

FlowJoe renders document previews locally:
  • Previews for DOCX, PPTX, and XLSX display inline text and formatting.
  • Previews for legacy formats (.doc, .xls, .ppt) require LibreOffice to be installed on your machine and configured in your path setting; otherwise, the app can only display raw text extractions.

4. Mobile Layout (In Development)

The mobile version of FlowJoe is currently in design and layout development, focusing on high-density outlines and quick media inputs: FlowJoe Mobile Shell Preview
Virtual galleries compile dynamic search results:
  • To prevent accidental structural corruption, virtual galleries are read-mostly. You can edit slot notes and view files, but you cannot drag cards, merge stacks, or delete files directly in a Virtual Gallery. You must click the jump-back badge to edit the file at its original node.
