The Rich Document Workbench utilizes Univer Docs to provide a real word-processing engine inside individual gallery slots.

Workflows

  • Create Blank Document: Select New Rich Document from the gallery addition options.
  • Importing Text: Drag and drop .docx, .odt, or .rtf files to import them. If the layout engine is available, the documents display styled text formatting, list structures, and embedded inline graphics.

  • Typography styling: Change headers, font weights, colors, text alignment, and spacing.
  • Image Integration: Paste images directly from your clipboard into the body of the document.
  • Headers & Footers: Set page structures, footers, and page numbers.
  • Exporting: Save drafts back to your system as standard .docx or .rtf formats.

Collaborative AI Writing

The rich document workbench is deeply integrated with Joe’s writing capabilities:
  • Content Retrieval: Joe reads document text using the get_island_content tool.
  • Drafting and Editing: Highlight a paragraph and ask Joe to rewrite it, fix spelling, or expand details. Joe writes updates directly back into the document frame.
  • Spellcheck Diff: Focus on the document slot to run a side-by-side spellcheck and grammar review.
