The Spreadsheet Workbench is an interactive, editable island powered by Univer Sheets. It lets you manage tabular data directly alongside your outlines and research notes.

Creating & Importing Spreadsheets

  • New Spreadsheet: Click the Add Item button in the gallery and select New Spreadsheet. This initializes an empty slot running the Univer Sheets engine.
  • Importing Files: Drag and drop .csv, .xlsx, .ods, or .xls files directly onto the gallery. You can choose to import them as a spreadsheet workbench slot or as a static read-only preview.

Workbench Features

  • Formulas & Math: Supports standard spreadsheet formulas (SUM, VLOOKUP, IF, etc.).
  • Multi-Tab Sheets: Add, rename, color-code, and delete multiple tabs inside a single spreadsheet slot.
  • Formatting: Edit font styling, backgrounds, borders, alignment, and column widths.
  • Exporting: Right-click the slot header and select Export to XLSX or Export to CSV to save the sheet back to your operating system.

AI Access & Interactions

Joe and external terminal agents can read spreadsheet content using the get_island_content tool.
  • Analysis: Ask Joe questions like “Summarize the total budget in the budget spreadsheet” or “Find the outliers in this CSV slot.”
  • Write-back: Joe can write calculated rows or generate empty spreadsheet templates with formula columns pre-configured.
[!NOTE] Resource Isolation: The spreadsheet workbench only loads its UI dependencies when you double-click to open it, keeping the rest of the gallery fast and lightweight.
