The right hemisphere of FlowJoe is the Gallery. The gallery holds your visual and document references, arranged as independent blocks called slots.

What is a Slot?

A slot is an individual container in the selected node’s gallery. It wraps any file, URL, embed, or interactive workbench into a card layout that includes:
  • Metadata Header: Shows the file type icon, name, and size.
  • Interactive Preview: A responsive rendering area (e.g. an audio player, a scrollable doc frame, or a web link preview). Click it to open the full-size Preview view.
  • Slot Notes: An isolated annotation field, backed by the full rich-text editor — slash commands, emoji, markdown shortcuts, and a floating formatting menu with Joe’s AI actions.
  • Tag Tray: Custom category tags.
  • Context Controls: Options to replace, duplicate, move, or combine the slot.

Toolbar: Collapse All

The gallery toolbar (and the canvas expand bar) includes a set of “Collapse all” toggles that act on every slot for the current node at once:
  • Collapse all media, Collapse all tag bins, and Collapse all notes each fold that part of every slot card down to save space, and expand it back out on a second click.
  • Each toggle’s state is per-node — collapsing notes on one node doesn’t affect any other node, and a node you haven’t touched always opens with everything expanded.

Slot Identity & Integrity

FlowJoe uses a stable, unique ID for every slot (entryId).
  • Notes Conservation: Even if you change the media item inside a slot or drag it to another position, any attached notes remain intact.
  • Undo History: Slot actions (like editing notes) have their own isolated history lanes. Undo-ing a note edit does not disrupt tree editing.
  • Joe References: Joe uses stable IDs to target slot-level mutations (such as replacing an image placeholder with a generated graphic).

Adding Slots

Slots are created automatically when you drag-and-drop files onto the gallery grid, paste clipboard content, or add web URLs. You can also click the Add Item button at the end of the gallery to create empty placeholders, calendars, spreadsheets, or rich documents.

📌 Slot Context Menu & Short-cuts

Right-clicking any slot card triggers a context menu of advanced file operations:
  • Tag Copying & Pasting: Quickly copy all tags from one card and Paste or Merge them onto other cards to build tag assets rapidly.
  • Asset Operations: Convert images or documents to PDF, crop images inline, or manage image stacking (Convert to Stack, Add to Stack, and Flatten Stack).
  • Ask Joe: You can ask Joe to copy a slot, or one item out of a stack, and leave the original in place; to crop a picture in its slot; or to turn a picture or a note into a PDF placed beside the original.
  • Download & Zip Exports: Pack all images/files in a stack into a single .zip file for download (Download Stack Media ZIP), export calendar workbenches as .ics files, or download raw original/derived files.
  • Notes Assistant: Right-click the notes field to access:
    • Dictate Notes (Microphone): Triggers voice dictation to speak annotations directly into the text field.
    • Spelling & Grammar Check (Spell-check): Instructs Joe to audit notes spelling and rewrite it cleanly for your approval.
