Media Category Previews
1. Images
- Formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG, and TIFF.
- AI generation: Directly generated graphics from Joe write back as native image slots.
2. Audio & Video
- Video Formats: MP4, WebM, OGG, and MOV.
- Audio Formats: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC.
- Global Player: Audio slots include album-art extraction. Playing audio loads it into a global header music player that continues playing even if you navigate to different tree nodes.
- Queues & Playlists: Drag audio slots together to create temporary playback queues, or save named playlists.
3. Documents
- PDFs: Rendered using a scrollable inline PDF frame with text search.
- Markdown, text & code: Open a slot and use Edit in the preview to work in a full code editor (see below).
- Office Previews: Read-only previews for DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, RTF, EPUB, and open formats (ODT, ODP, ODS) when they are not opened as interactive workbenches.
- Note: Legacy
.doc,.xls, and.pptfiles extract text natively if LibreOffice is installed and configured in your settings.
Editing text and code
Open a Markdown, plain text, JSON, HTML, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, YAML, shell, log, or similar native text/code slot, then choose Edit in the preview.- Editor: Full code editor with syntax highlighting for common languages (the same editor engine VS Code uses).
- Toolbar: Theme, word wrap, undo/redo, format, find, compare against your last saved version, and a more-tools menu (line numbers, minimap, show whitespace, font size, go to line, select all, copy all, download, Save to disk… on desktop, discard changes).
- Save / Preview / Save to disk: Save writes back to the gallery item inside FlowJoe. Save to disk… (under more tools) opens the system save dialog to export a copy; it does not re-link the gallery slot to that path. Preview returns to the readable view.
4. URLs & Embeds
- Link Cards: Dropping a URL extracts page titles, descriptions, and thumbnails to render a preview card.
- Interactive Embeds: Inline rendering of YouTube, Vimeo, PDF URLs, or Spotify frames.
- In-App Browser: Click a URL slot to load the web page in a secure in-app window, allowing you to browse and extract content directly into your gallery.
